Quality of health cares and patients’ safety

Healthcare quality and safety are two major determinants of performance.

  • Quality is closely related to the idea of repository for professional it is mainly built from the acquired science data. Quality evaluation is about respect of those repositories and is directed towards means and practices evaluation implemented to optimize the patient care management.
  • Safety is associated to the idea of prejudice for the patient and mainly stresses individual and systemic causes of healthcare system dysfunction. It refers to the result of a hospital care, especially to the absence of an adverse event linked with cares that only a part is avoidable by opposition to cares quality. Among all adverse events only a proportion can be avoided

Healthcare system efficiency

Limited resources impose to evaluate the efficiency of patient care management strategies in order to guide policies, provider and users choice. Research in this field consist in the development of knowledge on the hospital cares reality of patients and the real efficiency on people’s health, on programs and public policies implemented.
