- Alexandra Dima : « TEOS : a methodological framework for constructing operational definitions of medication adherence »
Adherence to medication is a priority for health systems and a rapidly developing research area. It is also a complex process to study, and the quality and transparency of methodological choices regarding adherence measures is one aspect in need of improvement. With a group of experts from the International Society of Medication Adherence (ESPACOMP), we developed a 4-component framework to guide these choices, focusing on the Timelines of medication acquisition and intake, key Events on these timelines, study Objectives, and properties of available data Sources. I will present the framework and the practical tools that help implement it in research, and situate TEOS within the larger context of adherence research and practice.
